About The Artist

Liliana Maya

Painting is where artist Liliana Maya feels the most free. It is within the four walls of her art studio in Summerville, South Carolina, where she finds solace. Painting is a peaceful escape that provides her with the opportunity to reflect, explore and create from the vivid imagery that lives within her mind and spirit. In this place and time, Liliana is able to create something beautiful through the playful dance between the brush, colorful acrylic, and blank canvas.  

“Painting has been my steadfast love,” says Liliana. More than 20 years ago, the Colombian artist and her family moved the United States. “It was during this time that, as I left everything I knew behind, I turned to art for self-expression and comfort; it was essentially a way to ground myself throughout all the changes I experienced.” Now decades later, Liliana feels lucky to turn what was once a hobby into a professional pursuit that audiences across the Lowcountry and beyond can enjoy.
